Job Opportunity:


Position: Environmental Project Manager


Marine Pollution Control is headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. This position will

be based in Iowa (location flexible). Frequent travel throughout Iowa and southern

Minnesota and occasional travel to other locations in the Midwest (Illinois,

Missouri, and Kansas) will be required to support work with utility companies.


Essential Responsibilities

- Oversight and coordination of waste management, electrical equipment disposal logistics,

industrial maintenance activities, and soil excavation which includes:

- Project scheduling, coordination, and oversight

- Sampling of electrical equipment, soil and other items requiring disposal

- Coordinating transportation of disposal based on analytical and customers’ policies

- Interfacing with client and subcontractor to schedule work in a timely manner

- Serve as resource to designated client for storage, transportation and waste storage,

- Provide onsite supervision of environmental contractors

- Conduct annual environmental audits and implement corrections by:

- Coordinating with other environmental partners.

- Tracking data and providing updates to client

- Active participation on remediation projects

- Coordinate response to releases

- Notification to government agencies on behalf of client for spill events

- Completing release reports

- Assist in SPPC & remediation plan development

- Report preparation

- Participate in customer specific training

- Interaction with all levels of management and personnel

- Other duties (temporary or permanent) as assigned by management


Minimum Qualifications:

- BA/BS in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or Science-related

discipline

- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in environmental consulting,

environmental remediation and industrial maintenance

- Must demonstrate ability to convert limited scope and project information into detailed

methodology, project approach, resource requirements, and costs

- General working knowledge of environmental regulations

- Valid Operator License

- Good driving record (3 points or less)

- Reliable transportation

- 24-hour contact number

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and deadlines

- Ability to develop and maintain excellent customer and vendor relationships

- Strong interpersonal and communication (written/oral) skills

- Excellent multi-tasking, organizational, and teamwork skills

- Capable of working both alone and in a team environment as required

- Ability to wear a respirator


Preferred Qualifications:

- 5 + years environmental experience

- Current Iowa Certified Groundwater Professional, Processional (CPG), Professional

Geologist (PG), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or Professional

Engineer (PE)

- Possess technical writing skills

- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER training certification

- Chauffeur License


Special Position Requirements

- Perform field duties, including drum and equipment sampling and field crew supervision

- Requires day-to-day client interaction

- Travel as necessary (extensive and project-driven)


Work Requirements

Frequently required to perform field work (i.e., drum and equipment sampling, contractor

oversight, etc.). Potentially required to handle hazardous and non-hazardous substances. Ability

to reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, and lift and/or move up to 100+ pounds.

Noise level is moderate to high.


Occasional work in an office environment, spending moderate periods of time utilizing a

computer. May be occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, and

lift and/or move up to 10+ pounds. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
